World’s Best Airlines- Do You Agree?

SkyTrax has just announced its annual list of airline rankings, and Emirates jumped all the way from number 8 in 2012 to nab the top spot. Over 18.2 million passengers from 150 countries participated in the ranking process. While they are flawed like any other, SkyTrax ratings are often the most trusted because they are decided by fellow passengers and operated by a 3rd party agency. These rankings are for people who want more than just to fly cheap. Rankings encompass all aspects of the flying experience including cabin interior appearance, friendliness of staff, and in-flight food and entertainment.

While presenting the awards, Richard Quest summed up the spirit of the awards, saying “It’s all about the ability to deliver a product every time — every flight, for every passenger in every class.”

So who did the best job of doing just that? Check out the top 10.

1. Emirates
2. Qatar Airways
3. Singapore Airlines
4. All Nippon Airways (ANA)
5. Asiana Airlines
6. Cathay Pacific
7. Etihad
8. Garuda Indonesia
9. Turkish Airlines
10. Qantas

Notice anything? American airlines don’t fare too well in these rankings. The highest U.S. spot went to Virgin America at 27th. Airline giant Delta was all the way down at 45th. Hopefully this sends a message to American airlines to step up their customer satisfaction efforts.
