Summer Events in Port Angeles, WA

Port Angeles in the Olympic Peninsula is always teeming with awesome events that come in many forms. Foodies, music lovers, bird watchers, and other hobbyists will surely find local shops and organizers that cater to their interests. The staff at George Washington Inn share the following calendar of events, so make sure to stop by in Port Angeles this summer so you don’t miss a thing!

NW Wine and Cheese Tour

Starting on May 2 and extending through May 3, this wine and cheese event is sure to entertain you with the flavors of the region. Take the opportunity to participate in this tour which offers an interesting selection of artisan cheeses, ciders and fruit wine from ten local wineries and cheese makers. Hosts will delight you with wine and cheese pairings and will offer other culinary snacks. Specials on local wines will be available throughout the Tour.

Concerts in the Woods
A concert series will begin at Coyle on May 2nd and will continue well into August, 2015, featuring music performances in scenic venues.

Rhododendron Festival
During the third week of May, 2015, the 80th annual Rhododendron Festival will take place in Port Townsend. Events include a pet parade, bed races, trike races, a children’s parade and a beard and hair contest. The event also offers a carnival which runs Thursday through Saturday, along with a Grand Parade and Cake Picnic on Saturday, May 16, 2015, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Plant Sale
A week later, on May 23, 2015, the Quilcene-Brinnon Garden Club hosts its annual Plant Sale. Held at the Quilcene Masonic Hall, the event includes a wide variety of garden items, including fresh flower bouquets, seeds, indoor houseplants, hanging baskets, native plants shrubs, herbs, vegetables, Japanese Maples as well as bakery items. The Garden Club uses the proceeds of the sale to contribute to local food banks, scholarships and libraries.

Steampunk Festival
Port Townsend hosts the Brass Screw Confederacy Steampunk Festival on May 29, 2015 through May 31st. The Festival offers the area’s best Steampunk entertainers and artists for stimulating conversation, music, art and history. In addition, the Tactical Croquet entertains with croquet, miniature golf and other forms of entertainment.

Olympic Music Festival
Later in June, from the 27th through the 28th, the 32nd season of the Olympic Music Festival will begin in Quilcene with an appearance by the Festival’s founder, Alan Iglitzin, with his colleagues, to perform two string sextets by Johannes Brahms. The Olympic Music Festival is an event that has occurred annually for 30 years. The Olympic Music Festival will continue on selected dates throughout the summer.

Art Jam
The second annual art show and sale known as Art Jam takes place on July 17 through 20 at Rock Hollow Farm in the barn. The show will feature new art and a special guest artist.
