From brightly colored buildings to century-old steeples, Charleston, South Carolina’s southern charm draws nearly seven million visitors annually. Widely acknowledged as a foodie city, this charming historic city also boasts local breweries, modern craft cocktail bars, and plenty of happy hours to go around.

Happy Hour

Cocktails are always better on the cheap, and Charleston happy hours make it easy and affordable to sample the city’s finest beverages. Moe’s Crosstown Tavern features weeknight specials from 4-7pm including $1 off liquor drinks, shot specials, and cheap PBR. This popular dive bar also features half-price burgers every Tuesday from 7-10pm, perfect for soaking up happy hour booze. For Sunday fun day, half price bottles of wine at Indaco and Cocktail Club will make it the most fun yet. Indaco also features $5 bourbon Wednesdays and $6 cocktails from 5-8pm every weeknight. For the ultimate weeknight deal, Charleston nightclub Mynt features $1 bourbon and vodka Thursdays from 5-8pm.

As tiki bars make a comeback, more bars around Charleston have gotten in on the tropical drink game with a refined twist. It’s tough to beat the views at the Citrus Club, where whimsical tropical cocktails and rooftop sophistication go hand in hand. Reservations are a must at the Dewberry’s darling rooftop lounge. For the full tropical treatment, visitors to Charleston’s neighboring Folly Beach can enjoy tiki drinks, Spam sliders and roasted pig at Wiki Wiki Sandbar. This Polynesian paradise even features specialty tiki mugs for many of their signature drinks. For a taste of the tropics in town, Cane Rhum Bar offers a colorful retreat in downtown Charleston, featuring happy hour specials on some of the most popular tiki drinks.

Beer drinkers will also feel welcome in Charleston, where beer-centric watering holes include the largest PBR seller in the country at the Recovery Room. If choice, not PBR, is the priority, the ironically named Closed for Business offers 42 rotating taps, including primarily unusual taps from around the globe. For a more local experience, there are several breweries throughout Charleston featuring great happy hours, fun events, and home-brewed ales. Cooper River Brewing Company is a local favorite for a warm atmosphere and plenty of cold beer. Travel further north for the laid-back vibes and free brewery tours at Holy City Brewing, which also features live music throughout the week.

Staying close to all Charleston’s best bars has never been easier at Hotel Bella Grace. Located in the heart of downtown Charleston, you will be able to walk to many of the area’s best bars.
