Things to do With Kids at the Jersey Shore

The Jersey Shore is a great alternative vacation spot for people who want some fun in the sun, but want to experience a different place. It’s home to a huge coastline of beaches, shopping, restaurants and recreation. It’s a great spot for a summer vacation. Here are some things to do with the kids during your summer getaway to the Jersey Shore.

Six Flags Great Adventure

Six Flags is on every kid’s must do for a vacation. Located in Jackson, New Jersey, this Six Flags park includes a safari park. You can feed giraffes, watch sea lion shows, go on safari off-road adventures, and ride on the park’s family and thrill rides. If your kids are tall enough, you can ride the #1 wooden roller coaster in the world, El Toro. The New Justice League ride coming this summer is a 4D gaming ride that allows riders to adventure with the Justice League throughout the ride.

Jenkinson’s Boardwalk

Jenkinson’s Boardwalk is a kid’s paradise. Explore the boardwalk’s shopping and dining options including the Sweet Shop that sells salt water taffy and a variety of sweets to get the kids sugared up. Visit Jenkinson’s Aquarium and see its marine animals including sharks, penguins and seals. The boardwalk even has amusement rides and arcade games.

The Jersey Shore has a vibrant surfing culture. If you already have a board or know how to surf, catch some waves at some of the Shore’s best spots. Some of the best spots include Seaside Park, Inlet Beach, and the “L Jetty” at Washington Avenue. There are companies that will take the whole family out on the water for a day and teach you how to surf, like Coastline Adventure Surfing School.

Long Beach Island

Long Beach Island is the perfect spot for beach lovers. The 18 mile-long island is full of beaches to swim and soak up the sun. Visit Barnegat Light and the surrounding state park to learn the history of the area. The Fantasy Island Amusement Park has a Victorian vibe and offers rides, arcades and ice cream that the whole family will enjoy. Cool off for the afternoon at Thundering Surf Water Park and Adventure Golf , enjoy their eight water slides, have a family super-soaker duel, and play a round at their mini golf course.

The Jersey Shore isn’t just for college kids. You’ll find miles of beaches and fun boardwalks to explore with your family. If you’re looking for a place to stay at the Jersey Shore, The Inns of Ocean Grove offers family accommodations for your next family vacation.
