Door County, Wisconsin Fall Festivals

There is never a bad time to visit Door County, Wisconsin. Every year, people travel to this beautiful lake town for the perfect getaway–whether it’s a family vacation or a couple’s romantic getaway to The Ashbrooke. The peninsula’s long shoreline, many parks and quaint towns make it an ideal destination year-round. Fall, however, is exceptionally fun-filled with a bevy of festivals sure to please kids and adults alike. Check out some of these fun festivals happening this year:
On September 17th, Sturgeon Bay hosts its annual Harvest Festival and Street Art Auction. This free, one-day event will close Third Avenue so a variety of arts and crafts vendors and business owners can spread out an offer a variety of local goods for sale. Visitors can shop for everything from home goods to baked goods; enjoy live music, a classic car show and tons of children’s activities. The culminating event of the day is the ever-popular “Benches by the Bay Street Art Auction”, with more than two-dozen custom decorated benches and Adirondack chairs available to the highest bidders.

There is something for everyone at Bailey Harbor’s annual Autumnfest , Classic Car Show & Hey Hey 5K. This weekend of fall fun kicks off on Saturday, September 24th. Begin the day with a 5K and end it with fireworks. In between you can enjoy live music, great food, local microbrews, an arts and crafts fair and a classic car and motorcycle show. Sunday events include an organized classic auto ride through Door County and a farmer’s market on the town hall green.

Looking for a weekend of family fun? Egg Harbor hosts its annual Pumpkin Patch Festival the weekend of October 8th and 9th. This festival features all of the fall favorites, including face painting, pumpkin carving, and hayrides. Standard festival fun, including carnival rides, inflatables, a roaming magician, music, a juried arts and craft show and food and beverage tents will round out this celebration of fall.

If carnival rides are not your thing, there’s still plenty to do. Each September, Orchard County Winery delights with its Fall Harvest Fest. This daylong event features complimentary wine and farm market food tasting, wagon rides, apple-picking, guided tours of the winery and even pumpkin bowling. This year’s Harvest Festival will be held on September 24th.

Art lovers will want to head over to Ephraim for the Townline Art Fair, held October 8th and 9th. This event features the work of more than 80 juried artists from across the Midwest.

As you can see, fall means fun in Door County. Come visit!
